Evening Antenatal Classes in Ramsey, Cambridgeshire: Real-Life Preparation for Birth, Baby and Beyond

When you’re expecting a baby, there’s a lot to think about – and sometimes even more to worry about. How will labour begin? What can help with pain? Will I know what to do when the baby arrives?

And somewhere in the middle of all that, there’s a big question:
Where can we learn all of this in a way that feels relaxed, informative, and actually useful – without taking annual leave to do it?

That’s exactly where Connected Parents comes in.

We offer evening antenatal classes in Ramsey, a small town in Cambridgeshire, within easy reach of Huntingdon, Chatteris, March, and surrounding villages. Our course is designed for real life – supportive, flexible, and rooted in community – and is held on weekday evenings, so you don’t have to give up your weekends or juggle daytime appointments.

What Makes Our Antenatal Course Different?

We’re not trying to be like the big national providers – in fact, we’re proud to offer something different. Connected Parents is a local antenatal education course that focuses on real preparation, genuine connection, and support that doesn’t end when the class finishes.

Our evening classes are:

  • Friendly and welcoming: No awkward icebreakers. Just a warm cuppa, good chats, and a space to ask anything on your mind.

  • Run by local professionals: Between us, we’ve supported hundreds of families. We’re sisters – a doula and an infant feeding worker – and we understand both the practical and emotional sides of this journey.

  • Focused on you, not a one-size-fits-all birth plan: We create space to explore what matters to you, your birth partner, and your baby – in a way that feels empowering without pressure.

  • Held on weekday evenings: Perfect if you work, have children at home, or just need flexibility.

Whether you’re based in Ramsey, Huntingdon, March, Chatteris, or nearby, you’re very welcome to join us.

What Our Antenatal Classes Cover

We meet over six evening sessions, each being three hours long. That might sound like a lot, but past parents tell us the time flies – and that they leave feeling far more prepared than they expected.

Each session includes time for:

  • Learning and discussing birth in a down-to-earth, honest way

  • Understanding the stages of labour and how to support yourself through each one

  • Exploring pain management – from movement and breathing to your full range of options

  • Supporting birth partners with practical tools (this is for them, too!)

  • Getting ready to feed your baby – bottle, breast, mixed or expressing

  • Navigating the early days with a newborn, from sleep to soothing

  • Talking openly about your postnatal recovery and emotional wellbeing

We keep the content grounded in evidence, but always leave space for the things you really want to know and the questions you haven’t yet asked.

Who Comes to Connected Parents?

Honestly? All sorts of people. First-time parents, second or third-time parents, solo parents, same-sex couples, birth partners who want to feel more confident, and those who simply want something a bit more realistic and personal than the mainstream options.

We limit the group to around 4-6 families, so it’s never too big or overwhelming. Many people stay in touch long after the course ends, and we love seeing those friendships grow into supportive parent networks.

Why People Choose Us Over Other Antenatal Courses

We know there are other courses out there – including some well-known names. But we often hear that parents come to Connected Parents because they want something:

  • More relaxed

  • More flexible

  • More personal

  • More inclusive

  • And often, more affordable

We’re not trying to deliver a polished “presentation.” We’re creating a space for connection, reflection and learning that helps you feel confident about birth and parenthood – whether things go to plan or not.

And because we’re community-focused and not-for-profit, our evening antenatal classes are offered on a sliding scale, with options for subsidised places.

FAQs

Where do your antenatal classes take place?
We run our evening antenatal classes in Ramsey, Cambridgeshire – easily accessible from Huntingdon, March, Chatteris and surrounding villages.

What if I’ve already done a course somewhere else?
You’re still welcome. Many families attend more than one course and find our relaxed approach a helpful addition to other learning.

Do I have to come with a partner?
Not at all. You’re welcome to attend on your own, with a partner, a friend, a family member – whatever works for you.

Do you offer an alternative to NCT antenatal classes?
Yes. While we cover similar topics, we offer a much more personal, small-group experience in a supportive, inclusive setting – and we operate on a not-for-profit basis.

Are the sessions just for first-time parents?
Not at all. Whether this is your first, second, or fifth baby, you’re welcome. There’s always more to learn – and every pregnancy is different.

Can I join if I'm due very soon?
Yes – as long as there’s space on the course and you can attend the full set of sessions, we’d love to have you. Many people join us in their third trimester. Just get in touch and we’ll let you know if it’s a good fit based on your due date.

Do your antenatal classes include breastfeeding support?
Absolutely. One of our facilitators is an experienced infant feeding specialist. We offer realistic, non-judgemental support for whatever feeding journey you’re planning – breast, bottle, expressing, or combination. We also run a follow on ‘New Parent’ group in the same location.

Will there be time to ask questions during the course?
Definitely. In fact, that’s one of the things people love most about our classes. We build in plenty of time for discussion, reflection, and real conversation – not just PowerPoint slides.

Is your course inclusive of different family structures and identities?
Yes. We welcome all family setups – solo parents, LGBTQ+ parents, non-birthing partners, and chosen support people. Our content is inclusive, and our language is thoughtful. You’ll never feel “othered” or left out.

Are your antenatal classes suitable for neurodivergent parents?
Many of the families who attend our course are neurodivergent, or prefer a quieter, more sensory-friendly space. We're experienced in adapting our sessions to different learning and communication styles – just let us know what helps you feel most comfortable.
